February Current Events





1. What feeling does this photograph create in you, the viewer? This photograph creates a feeling of sadness that someone would do such a thing. 
2. What story do you think this photograph tells the viewer? Does it capture something that would be hard to convey in words? The photograph tells the story of a poor human being that had to endure a hard experience and now has to live with it for the rest of her life. It does not capture something that would be hard to convey in words but the feeling is better seen than told. 
3. Who or what is the subject of this photograph? The subject is the poor woman who was tortured.
4. Is the lighting natural or artificial? What time of day is it? The lighting is artificial. 
5. If it is a color photo, what colors stand out? If it is black and white, what is the effect? The colors around her head draw the attention to her face.
6. What part or parts are out of focus, if any? What is the effect? No parts are out of focus. They don't have to be because you are automatically drawn to her face.
7. How is the picture composed? Is the subject centered? Is the "rule of thirds" followed? The picture is a portrait, the subject is centered.
8. What strikes you most about the photo? Why do you think that is? What strikes me most is her face and why someone had to go through that. The picture did not need a composition technique because one is automatically drawn to what the picture is conveying. 
9. What is the background for this image? It is a solid background so it will not take attention away from the subject. 
10. Is this photo timely? Does it have a timeless quality? Both? Might it become iconic? Why or why not? Yes, the photo is timely and iconic. This photo could serve for any purpose like violence against women and will never fade because of the impact it has made.
